Leaving!!

Finally, after so many years of being stuck with the Brahmins, I have left home! The Samanas have arrived into the town, and I have accompanied them on their journey to Nirvana. I am very happy to be leaving and trying to find my own path, but I will miss my family and friends in my village. I feel like I need to journey to find and be rid of the Self, the innermost being of all peoples.
Something that I am very happy about is that Govinda has decided to come with me. I feel as if I am a big influence to his life, and I am glad that he thinks of me that way. Govinda is a very good friend, and I am very fortunate to have someone like him to stay with me on my journey.

  1. The sentence, "...but I will miss my family and friends in my village," contradicts what you wrote in the first sentence. Siddhartha never felt trapped with the Brahmins, he left to find Englightenment. If I were to rewrite the first sentence of the second paragraph, I would not start it with the word "something". This journal flows very nicely and is very organized. Nicely done!

  2. The way Siddhartha left his home really struck me. It seems as though his friend Govinda is one of the few things he really cares about. He is lucky to have someone like him to help him on his journey to spiritual enlightenment.

  3. This journal is very powerful and prominent. For a young man to leave such a comfortable life was unheard of in the ancient world. Siddhartha must have been either very wise or very brash in his youth.

  4. How is Siddharhta taking to the Samana lifestyle? Does he like it? Are there any records found in the actual forest in which Siddhartha, the Samana, stayed in?
